A Problem I Thought Was Solved

For a while, everything seemed back to normal.
After the first incident was addressed, my lunches stayed exactly where I left them. Days turned into weeks without any missing food, and I finally stopped worrying every time I opened the office refrigerator.
I felt comfortable again.

Then one Monday, everything changed.
Over the weekend, my grandmother had prepared my favorite homemade meal. It was one of those recipes that instantly brings back childhood memories. I saved a portion specifically for lunch at work and carefully packed it into a container before leaving for the office.
That morning, I placed it in the refrigerator and looked forward to enjoying it all day.
When lunchtime arrived, I opened the fridge.
My container was still there.
But it was completely empty.
My stomach dropped.
“Not again,” I muttered.
The coworker who had been caught previously was on vacation that week, which meant they couldn’t have been responsible.
There was another food thief.
Determined to Find the Truth
This time, I decided to investigate.
The following day, I prepared what appeared to be a delicious lunch.
From the outside, it looked completely normal.
Inside, however, there was nothing but a few lettuce leaves and a handwritten note.
The note read:
“If you’re reading this, you’re eating someone else’s lunch. Please stop.”
I placed the container in the refrigerator and waited.
When lunch arrived, I checked the fridge.
The container had been opened.
The note was gone.
Someone had taken it.
Now I knew for certain that the mystery wasn’t over.
